Project "Social and cultural adaptation of women-refugees in Belarusian society"

The project was implemented in 1999-2000.

Aim of the project: to provide social assistance to women-asylum seekers and refugees in integration to Belarusian society.

Project activities:

1. "Women’s club" for women — refugees was organized. The aim of the club was to create the meeting place where they can communicate, learn sewing skills and hairdressing, exchange social and cultural experience between Belarusian and Afghan women.
2. Sociological research of the position of refugees in the republic of Belarus, their need and problems was made.
3. Analytical reports, containing recommendations on assistance to refugees were prepared and provided to the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees.
