Training of trainers of the project “For life” – prevention of breast cancer among young women.

Two-days start-up training for 12 trainers was held in Minsk in December 2008 in frames of the project “For life”

The programme of the training included:

• Developing the notion “breast diseases” and its connection with women’s reproductive health in general,
• Methods of self-diagnostics,
• Methods of work with the audience (for example, teaching interactive techniques).

The expert of this project is the main mammologist of the Ministry of Healthcare of Belarus Leonid Putyrski.

The project “For life” is implemented in 5 towns and cities of Belarus:

Minsk, Mozyr, Novopolotsk, Slonim, Smorgon.

Project goal:

· to raise awareness of women about methods of prevention and early diagnostics of breast cancer.

Specific goals and tasks:

§ To raise the awareness of young girls and women about the causes, symptoms, consequences of breast cancer and methods of prevention of this disease.

§ To teach the method of self-examination of breasts.

§ To attract public attention to the problem of breast cancer.
